The Indigenous communities are alive in the Highlands. I am very lucky to know a family that still does everything in the traditional ways. The matriarch is Abuela, now about 90 years old. When I first started painting in a realistic style two years ago, it was her old hands and arms that intrigued me. They showed time and told a story.
